Abstract

Human life is shaped by choices (Tuzcuoğlu, 1994). The selection of a profession, which is significant in one's life, is such an orientation. Therefore, it requires great care (Özay Köse & Gül, 2016). When examining the course plans of the health services vocational college (SHMYO) of a foundation university in the Black Sea region, it was understood that 102 out of a total of 405 courses were based in the biological sciences. Hence, the purpose of the study is to examine the level of influence that biology courses, as part of the science subjects, have on the SHMYO students' choice of university departments. The study employed a survey design, which is a quantitative research approach. The study was conducted during the spring term of the 2022-2023 academic year. The universe of the study consisted of associate degree students studying at the SHMYO of a foundation university in the Black Sea Region during the 2022-2023 academic year, while the sample consisted of 310 associate degree students studying at the SHMYO of the foundation university during the 2022-2023 academic year. The sample was determined by purposive sampling method. A data collection tool consisting of 2 parts was used as the data collection instrument. SPSS 2020 software was used for data analysis. Accordingly, it has shown that the participation of students in the study was at a moderate level. The scores obtained by the students from the scale did not significantly differ according to the types of high schools they graduated from. It has been understood that the scores obtained by the students from the scale significantly differed according to the programs they study at the university. It has been understood that the scores obtained by the students from the scale related to liking the biology course, in choosing SHMYO associate degree programs, did not significantly differ according to age, gender, and the educational status and profession of the parents.

Abstract

Stamps are small pieces of paper with glue on the back, pictures on the top, and mostly lace around them, which are issued by the postal administrations of the states all over the world and enable the postal services to be carried out. Nowadays, music is one of the subjects covered in stamp images, where pictures, object photographs, drawings, and figures are printed with different techniques. Music-themed postage stamps are documentary visual materials used to promote the country's music culture, artists, instruments, music celebrations, music festivals, and music genres as a transmitter of music culture, and to raise awareness about various subjects of music. This study examines the phenomenon of musical culture in Turkish postage stamps that have been printed in Turkey until today. In this context, in the study, all postage stamps printed starting from the first postage stamp printed in Turkey until the data of the research were examined and music-themed stamps were evaluated visually and thematically. In this study based on qualitative research, data was collected using the document analysis method. The written data of the research consists of printed and electronic publications, and the visual data consists of 30 stamps of the 13 music-themed commemorative stamp series put into circulation by PTT from the beginning until 2024. In this context; music-themed Turkish postage stamps include local and foreign artists, instruments used in our polyphonic and traditional music, and an institution for its contributions to the art of music. As a result of the study, suggestions were made on the use of music-themed stamps in education.

Abstract

Education is always a rising value. It is known that education management has an important place in this rising value. It is seen that one of the subsystems of education management processes and the most important one is the supervision system. Supervision is a control process and while taking a picture of the current situation of organizations, it can also develop suggestions for their self-renewal. Supervisors who perform supervision work are expected to comply with a number of ethical values in addition to laws and regulations while working in institutions. Ethics deals with the judgments behind moral attitudes, as well as evaluating good-bad, right-wrong, virtue-fault behaviors. While the basic principles, values and policies related to ethics continue in their natural process in Turkey, it can be said that they have started to become systematic in recent years. The main reason why the issue of ethics has come to the agenda strongly in the public sector and professional groups is the establishment of the “Public Officials Ethics Board” established with the law dated 25/5/2004 and numbered 5176. The establishment of the “Public Officials Ethics Agreement” based on this legal regulation and its signing by public employees when they start their duties is an important step. It is seen that the Ministry of National Education is trying to establish ethical codes, rules, principles, values and standards in the supervision system with the regulations it has made in accordance with the laws. It is seen that the dual supervision system in the Ministry of National Education, consisting of a ministry supervisor and an educational supervisor working in the provinces, is similar to each other in terms of ethical principles, rules, values and standards, as well as different situations. Here, the establishment of a dual structure within the same professional group performing the same job and the same task, and the creation of differences even in an indisputable area such as ethics, can be seen as an ethical problem in itself.

Abstract

Family-friendly policies include a number of regulations and policies regarding family life in order to support the work life of employees. This concept has emerged as a concept in organizations; When used for schools, it is called family-friendly school policies. The study was conducted to develop a measurement tool to determine school administrators' levels of family-friendly school policies. The data of the study was obtained from 170 school administrators working in public schools in Aydın province and its districts in the 2020-2021 academic year. The results of the exploratory factor analysis performed on the data obtained from school administrators show that the family-friendly school policies scale consists of three dimensions and twelve items. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis, conducted with a different sample than the sample in which the exploratory factor analysis was conducted, confirm the three-factor structure. Internal consistency tests show that the measurement tool consisting of three dimensions is quite reliable. The dimensions of the scale are named "Flexible Policies, Supportive Policies and Leave Policies" in line with the the literature. It is suggested to conduct studies in order to support the research by associating the developed scale with different variables such as organizational commitment, work life balance, work life conflict, and organizational happiness.

Abstract

In this study, going beyond the classical meaning of the concept of 'museum', the evaluation of the museum as an innovative educational model is discussed. The use of museums as educational spaces for children and adults and their potential to provide visionary perspectives to large masses are emphasised. It is stated that museums should evolve as places that can bridge the past and the future and provide scientific, national and international cultural transfer. The historical development, current situation and future potentials of museum education in Turkey and TURKSOY member countries are analysed. By comparing the educational activities of state museums, the historical and current importance of the museum-education relationship is emphasised and possible future developments and suggestions are presented. Suggestions were made on topics such as adding museum education themed courses to the curriculum, opening museums in schools, and developing the concept of interactive museums. This research, which is based on a literature review, aims to synthesise existing scientific studies and to analyse the subject in depth. In this context, the role and contribution of museums in social education has been analysed in depth and a comprehensive evaluation of museum education has been made by presenting examples from different countries.

Abstract

This study, aimed to develop an accurate and consistent measurement tool by examining the perception of school-family cooperation among parents who have childen in primary education. The research used the survey model in the quantitative method. The items used to create the scale were organized according to six themes based on the data obtained from the articles. An item pool was created based on the themes and the draft form was applied to parents whose children were in primary education in public schools in Nazilli district of Aydın province. For Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis, 211 parents participated in the research voluntarily. In the study, firstly, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was applied to test validity; For reliability, Cronbach's Alpha internal consistency coefficients were evaluated. As a result of Exploratory Factor Analysis, the 6-dimensional scale with 34 items was determined with a variability rate of 69.97%. The internal consistency coefficient of the scale was defined as ".86"; The model was validated with Confirmatory Factor Analysis and a 6-dimensional scale with 32 items was created. It has been determined that the developed model can be used to measure the perception of school-family cooperation among primary school parents
